How to Play a Winning Game of Blackjack

Blackjack is an entertaining casino card game. There are seven players and a dealer on a typical Blackjack game table. There is a betting square on the table in front of each player. Dealer deals cards from the shoe or chip tray lying in front of him. There are normally eight decks of cards in a game of Blackjack. Different Blackjack tables offer different game options. You need to play your game at the table offering the best game options. You can understand and choose the table according to the most favorable conditions for game play at any Blackjack table.

The basic strategy for a game of Blackjack is a pre-determined set of game actions for getting the maximum from the game while playing a single hand against a full set of cards. Following these basic strategy rules can help you win huge amounts. You can memorize such strategy rules as available at game sites. Alternatively, you can carry along a copy of the rules to the casino for analyzing and determining your game play under different blackjack table conditions.

Playing single deck games offer better chances of a huge win as there are few cards in the deck. Therefore, you can calculate the cards you can expect from the deck and plan your game accordingly. The house advantage in a single deck game is 0.35% while it is 0.48% for four decks, 0.54% for five decks, and 0.58% for eight decks. Plan your bets and game moves in a Blackjack game to have an even game with the house. Neither you nor the house has an advantage of more than 0.5%.

Always start your betting from the base level, which means your first bet should be the minimum amount of bet. While dealing of cards continues, keep an eye on the dealt cards. If you find there are more 9s, 10’s and Aces left in the shoe, increase your bets to almost four times your base level bet. If your base level bet is $5, now, you should bet $20. On the contrary, if you feel there are only smaller cards remaining in the deck, maintain your bet at the base level only. Continue betting with $5.

Return to a base level bet after a shuffle. Keep adjusting your bet amounts according to the number of small or big cards in the deck. Similarly, if you find that there are more Aces in the deck, increase your bet. Decrease your bet amount if the number of Aces in the deck is less. Aces form Blackjack and pay you in the ratio of 3: 2. Therefore, having more Aces in the deck proves advantageous to your game play if you increase your bet amounts.

A depleted deck is a card deck with fewer and lesser number of cards. After dealing of cards, the card deck keeps depleting. Such a deck could prove advantageous to you or the dealer under specific circumstances. If there are more 9s, 10s, and Aces in the deck, it is beneficial to you. If there are more cards with values between 2 and 6, it is beneficial to the dealer. If the deck has more 7s and 8s in the deck, the effect is neutral and does not benefit either you or the dealer. However, you should be able to make a correct judgment of the deck to use this tactic.

Insurance in a game of Blackjack is essential only if you are counting cards. The Insurance option comes into force only if dealer’s face up card is an Ace. No one knows the value of the face down card of the dealer. If it is a tens or any other face card, dealer has a blackjack and therefore, wins all your bets.

If you take up insurance bet, half of your bet is now into the insurance semi-circle. If the dealer gets a blackjack, you win your insurance bet in the ratio of 2:1 but lose your original bet. If the dealer does not have a blackjack, you lose the insurance bet and game continues as usual with the half of original bet amount.
